HISTORY
WAY serves the community as a center of communications for watershed concerns and issues and clearinghouse
of news and information for our stakeholders, in York County, Pennsylvania and beyond. Led by 15 citizen volunteers
on the board of directors, WAY is a charitable, non-member, Pennsylvania corporation, and IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt
nonprofit public-private partnership. WAY has something for everybody!

Board meetings are open to the public and held the first Wednesday, of January, April, July and October, 7:00 p.m.,
at 324 W. Market St., York, PA.

- Increasing population & development
- Comprehensive planning & changing land use
- Increasing stormwater runoff, flooding & droughts
- Decreasing groundwater recharge
- Impaired water quality of streams & lakes
- Drinking water quantity & quality
- Loss of prime agricultural land & farms
- Loss of forests, wetlands & wildlife habitat
- Loss of aesthetic & recreational opportunities
- Promote healthy communities, sustainable economies, and environmental stewardship and watershed protection.
- Increase public awareness and knowledge about watershed concerns and issues.
- Encourage watershed-based planning, restoration and protection, locally and regionally.
- Leverage resources from public and private sources to ensure watershed goals are achieved, locally and regionally.
- Monitor watershed-based planning, restoration and protection effectiveness through effective water quality improvements.
- Encourage environmental stewardship and watershed protection of public and private lands.
