Watershed Alliance of York's History

Founded in 2001, the Watershed Alliance of York, Inc. is a public-private partnership for York County, Pennsylvania. Organized through grassroots efforts, both large and small, WAY is led by citizen volunteers who recognize the alliance's unique capabilities as a vehicle environmental stewardship and a powerful force for positive change in our watersheds.

This web site illustrates how WAY is working with the York County community to assure that watershed concerns are properly addressed, and how WAY is reaching out to watershed partners to help assure that locally led watershed initiatives improve the quality of water and quality of life we all share.

WAY is also part of a larger movement - today more than 425 watershed groups and over 11,000 citizen volunteers are involved in monitoring water quality across the Commonwealth. We invite you to see for yourself how WAY is making a significant impact throughout the watersheds of York County and beyond.
