Adopt Your Watershed Cleanup Program
Beginning in 2005, WAY partnered with PPL Corporation to provide financial and technical assistance to local municipal governments,
nonprofit organizations, and citizen volunteers to clean up their watersheds. Grants are available to eligible entities and
individuals to help pay the costs of equipment rental, purchasing products and services, and advertising and promotion associated
with watershed cleanups. If your group would like to sponsor a cleanup in your community, please contact us today.

"Next Steps" to a Sustainability York County
In 2005, WAY hosted its successful "Pigs, Parks and SuperStores": a conference about the Sustainability of York
County, at Heritage Hills. The purpose of this conference was to bring together public and private agencies, organizations
and key community individuals to help define "a sustainable York" and identify the "next steps" for our
partners to develop and implement for getting there. Over 100 stakeholders attended.

Rivers Conservation Planning
WAY is actively engaged in promoting and supporting Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' "Rivers
Conservation Planning", in York County and beyond. Rivers conservation planning is a comprehensive evaluation of existing,
known land use, natural resource inventories, and damage/loss/pollution, threats and opportunities for restoration, protection
and recreational enhancement of our watersheds. Public participation identifying natural resources, threats, and opportunities
for conservation is key to success. The outcome of this process is a valuable planning document local elected officials, cooperating
agencies, nonprofit organizations, and landowners may use to conserve and preserve their natural resources and quality of
life for future generation.
