ASSISTANCE

The focus of WAY's work relates to public education and outreach, watershed assessment, procurement of funding, technical assistance, and the creation, implementation and coordination of workplans and strategies to restore and protect groundwater and surface water resources.  WAY is a resource to both the public and private sectors.

Municipal Official & Employee Training

WAY offers training to elected officials and municipal employees upon request, free of charge. Workshops are from 2-hours to 8-hours and can be delivered at your facility, as time and resources allow. Topics include:
  • Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping Best Management Practices"
  • Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
  • Innovative Stormwater Management Best Management Practices
  • Green Infrastructure

Sustainable Funding

WAY can assist with preparing and submitting grant proposals to provide funding for non-point source watershed activities (technical support positions, 319 projects, mini-grants, cost-share funding, etc.) and other grant applications for funding watershed planning and implementation projects.

Watershed Organization Support

WAY can assist with the formation and development of local watershed organizations, and support existing watershed organizations with technical assistance, watershed planning, and educational programs.

Water Quality Monitoring

The York County Senior Environment Corps is trained and equipped to test stream and well water quality, monitor surface water quality trends, and detect nonpoint sources of pollution. They provide free training and mentoring to new citizen volunteer monitors, schools and watershed groups. Also, they can come to your church, school or organization and deliver quality educational programs about water quality an protection.
